Waltz, or Slow Waltz, or English Waltz, is a slow gliding dance, with a disctinctive rising and falling motion, traces it roots back to earlier forms of the waltz of the 1500s. Variations of the Slow Waltz are still popular in social and folk dancing around the world. It is danced to 3/4 music - three beat per bar.

Waltz is also one of the main dance styles in competition dancesport. Slow waltz is listed as an international style ballroom dance, and waltz is also listed as an american style smooth dance.
