Some people love dancing, learn a few moves, then hit the nightclubs or social dances. Casual social dancing, whether just to be with friends, or in hopes of finding a partner, is a major pastime for many people of all ages. But suggest there might be a competition, or a flamboyant Tango, and many of those same dancers, who love dancing, would quickly leave the dance floor. For most casual social dancers, the idea of dancing is to have fun, to get out, and to meet people, not to learn the formal steps of a particular historical or competitive dance style.

Nighclubs, social clubs, singles associations, and various dance associations offer a variety of casual social dances, depending on your age group or music preferences. If you prefer casual social dancing, look out for clubs offering Freestyle, HipHop, Swing, Latin, NightClub, Country&Western or Folk Dancing styles - depending on your preferences.
