Come out and try contra dancing in Ottawa! Popular throughout North America, contra dancing is always danced to a live band. While usually the music is of Celtic or Quebecois origin, bands often throw in various styles such as swing.

Reasons why you might like contra dancing if you’ve never been:
-Really welcoming and friendly dance community
-We like beginners so much we even have 'get into the second dance free cards' for total beginners!
-All dances are called and there's a free beginners lesson before every dance
-Don't need a partner
-Community dancing where you can get into a great groove, get some exercise, and smile LOTS!
-All ages event, ages 16 and under free

Dates: Every 1st and 3rd Saturday, September-June as well as special events.
Time: Dance 8:00pm-11:00pm with free beginner lesson at 7:30pm where basic moves are taught.
Location: Churchill Rec Centre in Westboro, one of the few great dance floors in the city.
Admission: $12; members & students (with ID) $10; youth 16 and under free.
